Floater -Direct Support Professional

Salary Range:

14.25 (USD) Hourly, Eligible for Overtime

SUMMARY: Floater DSP's will perform the typical DSP responsibilities as outlined below. Floater DSP's will be responsible for covering back or front end shifts, while being floated to different residences based upon the need of the agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures the maintenance of a clean, safe and orderly residence. Staff has the primary responsibility for cleaning the residence and keeping it safe, comfortable and orderly.
  2. Ensures that individuals and their clothing are neat and clean, and that individuals are dressed for the season and weather.
  3. Works with individuals on a daily basis to ensure that all goal-related plans are followed.
  4. Works with other staff to ensure that behavior plans and clinical plans are followed.
  5. Records and documents progress regarding individual Staff Action Plans.
  6. Is aware of the individuals needs and follows each individual plan of protective oversight.
  7. Plans and prepares meals daily, or assists individuals in preparing meals or working on a meal-related goal.
  8. Is certified per NYS regulations to administer medications and passes meds when needed.
  9. Is aware of staffing needs. Staff may be required to work other sites when needed
  10. Documents administration of medications and daily control counts. Follows procedures regarding securing the keys to the medication cabinet.
  11. Maintains communication with all individuals, other staff and family members of individuals when requested.
  12. Successfully participates in all required training courses and meetings.
  13. Reports to the residence manager or assistant residence manager on any and all individual and residential needs and requirements.
  14. Attends recreational activities with individuals.
  15. Works with others to ensure that individuals are taken to medical appointments, as needed, and documents the appointment.
  16. Informs the residence manager of any individuals' concerns, relays messages from program, medical, or other contacts.
  17. Reads and completes the staff communication log, Daily Agendas, individual log and the bed check log.
  18. Completes and documents a fire drill (one per shift per quarter) when requested by manager. Follows the residential Fire Evacuation Plan.
  19. Performs SCIP techniques when necessary and meets physical requirements of the position, such as lifting, standing, bending, pushing and pulling.
  20. Acquires and maintains certifications in all required courses, including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R, and Defensive Driving.
  21. Assists individuals with evacuating the residence in emergency situations.
  22. All other duties as assigned.
